What do I get from sewing…

It’s definitely not cheaper things. Hahaha. If you craft, you know that too. Supplies will cost you a great deal more than buying anything ready made from a boutique.
Well, first of all, I know it’ll last me longer, because it’s made better.
I get something unique. Not to stand out, but to reflect more of who I am. Something that’s not out of a chain store. Like me.
I connect to my children on a different level. My younger one, it’s still simple. He ‘helps’ me cut and sits on my lap as I sew. My older one feels happy, that she’s important for my time and effort. I love how proud she’s of me when she can tell her friends that what she’s wearing for carrying is made by her mommy.
I create. I use my imagination (what am I going to make next and what it will look like), I use my critical thinking (what will work best for the purpose, do I need to modify). I plan (fabric) and analyze (color, pattern, user). Creativity also involves patience. Slow and steady wins the race.
It’s therapeutic. I started crafting after my loss that turned to sewing. I like the time for myself. When something bothers me, it relaxes me. When my day with activities, 7 kids and hubby gets too chaotic, I like to shut down in a sense and sew a little.
What boosts my ego a lot and makes me laugh is people’s face. The way they say “You made that?!”
So all and all, crafting, sewing, creating is great! Right?!
Thank you for reading. Love, Judit.
